Overview
This article describes the following elements:
Creating a New Model
There are several ways to create a new model:
Creating a new blank model
Accessing Model Settings
The model settings can be accessed by clicking the blue dropdown arrow next to the Model Name in the top-left corner. Every model comes with a default name such as "3 Statement Model Template (new)" as seen below.
Within the Model Settings, you can access the basic attributes of a model, including: Model Name, Start/End Date, Periods, FY Start.
Updating the Model Name & Description
The model name can be changed to anything using alphanumeric and punctuation keys, and is used to identify the specific model from the Home Page and from the left panel.
The model description can be used to store additional information and context about the specific model.
Updating the Model Timeframe
The start and end dates determine the first and last periods of the model.
The model period type setting determines the lowest level of time discretization of the model. Options for node time-based aggregation and disaggregation are based upon the model time period.
The model start and end dates and period type determines the total periods (i.e. time steps) that will be displayed and calculated for all nodes & links in the model.
The FY Start (or fiscal year start) setting determines the fiscal year period, which impacts the automatic time-based aggregation.
Important Note:
Changes to the Periods and Start/End Date settings will affect the entire model and cannot be undone.
To learn more about how the time dimension works within a Logica model, see this article.
Advanced Model Settings
Within the Model Settings menu are options for more advanced needs.
Enable Cell by Cell Editing
When this box is checked: Any value entered in a given time step of an input node will default to no repeating. Each time step must be entered manually.
When this box is unchecked: Any value entered in a given time step of an input node will default to repeat the value in future time steps until the next entered value. Only the changes in values need to be entered.
Enable Cell by Cell Editing for Hybrid Variables
When this box is checked: Any value entered in a given time step of a hybrid node will default to no repeating. Each time step must be entered manually.
When this box is unchecked: Any value entered in a given time step of a hybrid node will default to repeat the value in future time steps until the next entered value. Only the changes in values need to be entered.
Enable Scenarios Sync
When this box is checked: Allows the use of the scenario sync feature for that model.
When this box is unchecked: Disables the use of the scenario sync feature for that model.
See this article for more details about this feaure.
Enable Scenarios Deletion
When this box is checked: Allows the deletion of scenarios for that model.
When this box is unchecked: Disables the deletion of scenarios for that model.
See this article for more details about this feature.
Model Template for Organization
When this box is checked: Allows that model to be used as a model template by other users within the same organization (Logica workspace). Other users can create new models from this template in the same way that Logica templates can be used, as outlined in this article.
When this box is unchecked: The model is not listed as a template that can be used by other users.
Component Template for Organization
When this box is checked: Allows that model to be used as a component template by other users within the same organization (Logica workspace). Other users can insert new components from this template in the same way that Logica templates can be used, as outlined in this article.
When this box is unchecked: The model is not listed as a template that can be used by other users.
