Overview
This article describes the following topics related to the dashboard in Logica:
What are Comments?
Comments are one of Logica's great features that allow you to discuss, take notes, or write reminders in addition to countless other options within the platform itself. They enable you to comment on specific variables or an overall view. A comment will show you the time it was made, who it was made by, and give you the ability to reply directly to it.
In addition, you can tag other users (mentioning the user using @), which will notify that specific user with your comment via the notification system and via email.
The email will specify where the comment was made which will make it easier for the user to find it with a link taking them to it. There will also be a notification in in the app header notification inbox and will look like this:
Comments also enable users to edit and delete comments via the pencil and paper icon at the top right of every comment.
A list of comments can be organized by time via the drop-down menu at the top of the comment section which defaults to "Newest First."
Where and how to make Comments?
Comments are made using the input box shown below, which can be found towards the bottom of the Right Side Panel:
Sometimes you need to scroll the panel all the way down if there is a lot of information being shown before that comments section.
Since the Right Side Panel always shows the current selection, the comments made there are associated that selected item. You can tell what is currently selected based on the name shown in the first row of the Right Side Panel.

That selection can be either a:
Comments in views
Comments in views are meant to be high level comments about what seen in that view/report. For example, in the same comment or thread you can make references to several visible items (e.g. Revenue and Expenses in a P&L). Comments in views can also be used to provide instructions or feedback regarding the current view, as well as documenting rationale for structural changes to those views/reports.
The comments for the current view are always visible by default when no node or link is currently selected. You can always unselect a node or link by simply clicking on the back (blue) button at the top-left of the right-side panel. That will take you to the view's comments. Making a comment there will be visible to anyone accessing that view.
Comments in nodes
Use comments in nodes when you want that information to be available to everyone that accesses to that node, regardless of what view they are currently in. So you don't need to make the same comment across all views that use that node. They are useful to discuss specific values/assumptions or calculation logic.
In order to directly comment on a specific node (e.g. variable, constant, group, component, operator, etc), you need to first select it, so it is shown in the Right Side Panel (RSP). That selection can be done via:
Table - by clicking on a table cell associated with that node.
RSP - by clicking on another node shown there as related to the current selection.
Canvas - by clicking on the respective node in the canvas.
Once you have the desired node selected and shown in the RSP, you can type in the comment input box towards the bottom of the RSP. This will publish the comment to everyone that is able to access and select that node.
